Natural Stone Masonry Ltd is a specialist stonework subcontractor to civil engineering contractors on road, flood relief, infrastructure and public realm schemes. We take on the full stone package: stone-faced retaining and flood walls, boundary and parapet walls, coping, string courses and reclaimed stone facing, all built to the engineer's drawings and the main contractor's programme.
Stone facing to blockwork and reinforced concrete retaining structures and to flood defence walls on flood relief schemes, built to the engineer's detail, with the correct ties, cavity fill and drainage.
New boundary walls to road schemes, including tie-ins to existing walls and matching of local stone character.
Castellated, flat and rounded coping to specification, plus parapet walling and string courses on structures and approaches.
Careful take-down of existing roadside walls, then sorting and re-using the original stone. This is often a planning or heritage requirement.
We use our own directly employed masons, hand plant and supervision on site. When the programme needs more hands, we bring in established subcontract crews we work with regularly.
We're used to phased road schemes with traffic management, live services and restricted working windows.
We're doing the natural stone package on the Water Rock Road upgrade for the main contractor, McGinty & O'Shea Ltd. The scheme is part of Cork County Council's Water Rock LIHAF Initiative, designed by AtkinsRéalis and funded under Project Ireland 2040. Our scope is about 650 m² of stone-faced retaining and boundary walls up to 1.8 m high with castellated coping, re-using stone reclaimed from the existing roadside walls. We've been on site since July 2026 with our own crew, working to the main contractor’s programme.
We built 600 m² of random rubble limestone boundary and retaining walls along the motorway alignment, with upright coping dressed on three faces. The job took nine weeks on site for Sorensen Civil Engineering Ltd and was finished within programme on a live site.
We rebuilt 480 m² of stone boundary walls along the cable route of the Celtic Interconnector, the electricity link between Ireland and France. The walls had been taken down for the cable works, and we reinstated them for Sorensen Civil Engineering Ltd. This job ran at the same time as the M28, with a separate crew on each site, and both were finished within weeks of each other.
